It is time for another US Visa Bulletin. The first predictions were released in January and were met with mixed reviews. Many people were not pleased with the predictions, while others seemed to love them. It may be that we are all just excited to see what the predicted changes will do to our Visa business in the future.
When looking at the predictions, it is easy to see that we are going to have more changes than usual in the next few months. The major areas of focus for the US are: Employment, Family, and International travel. You can expect the employment side of predictions to include that the US economy will continue to experience strong growth and unemployment will remain low. As for family-related issues, this prediction does not foresee any major issues with child care, childcare, and education.
With respect to international travel predictions, you can expect the following to happen: Visa requirements will be less strict, and the number of passport denials will become fewer. There is a chance that the UK could end up with more immigrants coming to the UK. It is also possible that Mexico will take over as the new Mexico visa stream, but that hasn't happened yet. The predictions do leave open the possibility of Canada joining the group soon, but their status as a US Border neighbor is still in doubt.
As for the US Visa Bill predictions, they seem to be all good news. It seems that President Trump is trying to make good on his campaign promise of reducing the number of foreign workers in the United States working under H-1B visa programs. This legislation also aims to make it easier for spouses of US citizens working in the same field to work together. Finally, business travelers are cashing out by passing the visa bill. Most businesses are reporting significant increases in their profits since the visa bill was passed. Even so, some economists believe that most of the benefits to the US economy will be enjoyed by other sectors of the economy.
Some say that if this bill becomes law, the US economy will suffer a recession. This is mostly attributed to the high levels of non-immigrant labor force in the country. But then again, there is also a risk of a recession in a slowing global economy. And, the US is not the only country dealing with visa hurdles. In the last few years, Australia implemented tougher immigration rules and their unemployment rate is consistently higher than the United Kingdom's.
So it would appear from the above predictions that the new visa bill would not bring too much harm to the US economy. Instead, it could bring about more advantages and opportunities to both immigrants and businesses. It is expected to boost the economy by a few billion dollars every year, although this is conditional and varies according to how the bill would be implemented in practice. Still, it is clear that this visa bill has become part of the US government's agenda of fulfilling the vision of the President in becoming a country that welcomes people from every corner of the world.
