AED Bank was one of the first companies to offer its services after the September 11th Terrorist Attacks in America. The AED is a fully portable and rechargeable battery operated device that can effectively counter any attack by multiple pathogens. It was created by Dr. Bruce Fogle, who received his Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from Harvard University. In this article he explains how the system works, what are the requirements for ordering an AED, and how many Congressmen have requested information on the AED System.
According to Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) “The unfortunate reality is that we now have individuals who have made certain decisions to place their own personal security above the safety and well being of our country and indeed of the world community. Because of this, it is really important that we work with our law enforcement agencies to get these folks locked up, and in jail so they cannot come back.” Rep. Walter B. Ellsworth (D-ME) said that if the AED System did not already exist then “it is time for a company like AED Bank to step in and fill that void.” He went on to say, “These devices not only save lives but they can help apprehend those who would continue in this illegal activity.”
To date, AEDs have been used in more than one hundred million incidents in the United States. Most of the injuries were caused by a person not responding to an EMS call or calling for assistance as soon as they were hurt. According to the AED System company, as much as eighty percent of people injured in a catastrophic medical event are not treated by an EMS provider within five hours. Of those treated, most are sent to a hospital emergency room where they receive treatment and are put on a respirator until an ambulance arrives.
If the same people who should be protected had an AED equipped vehicle than twenty-four hours of their lives could be saved and millions of dollars of additional property and personal damage could be prevented. AED systems are also proving useful to businesses as well as individuals who have been devastated by natural disasters. The author of an article entitled “EDD Bankruptcy, A Vehicle With an Electronic Dump Tray” who goes by the name “Joe,” told us that he uses his debit card to pay for the $400 charge to his AED two times per month.
Because fraudulent or inefficient direct deposit may cause penalties to go back to the employee, more businesses and employees are going with direct deposit to avoid the hefty fees that go along with bank overdrafts. Direct deposit could be the ticket to preventing a pandemic. According to an article posted at the Online Business News website, “The FDA recently approved a new feature for debit cards which will prevent the use of fake money.” The article goes on to say, “The feature is similar to a security feature found on cruise ships and airplanes.”
The author of that article, Dan Evans, went on to say, “The problem with unemployment is not that people aren't trying to find work. It's that they're spending too much time at home waiting for jobs that just don't exist.” In other words, that is one of the problems with having so many unemployed individuals, many of whom have lost their jobs due to the recent recession. That problem is what is driving the recent surge in food stamp usage as well as using electronic benefit cards and EBT cards. According to an estimate, approximately 59 state lawmakers are behind the recent spike in EBT applications. Some of these are Rhode Island Sens. Joseph R. Diaving, chair of the Senate Social Security Committee and Frank J. Licata, chair of the House Ways and Means Committee.
According to an estimate, Rhode Island is experiencing over one million job losses between now and the end of next year. Most of these job losses are due to the recent recession in the construction industry. But it doesn't take a scientist to figure out the connection between unemployment and fraud. Apparently, some of these unemployed citizens are using their unemployment benefits in order to file fraudulent claims with the state's unemployment department in an effort to receive a monthly check from the government.
According to Utah County Clerk Sheryl K. Smith, the number of applicants requesting disability benefits from the EDD Bank in January was up compared to previous months. This increase has been attributed in part to the recent announcement by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke that the economic stimulus package will be extending into the second half of this year. Meanwhile, Utah County Court Clerk Ginger J. Shields stated that more than half of all applicants to the Employment Development Department (EDD) in January applied via electronic means, which is a marked increase from December.
