Discover credit cards are one of the best values on the market today. If you don't already have one, you should consider getting one. The Discover card offers an extremely wide variety of perks, rewards and features, all while offering low interest rates and low fees and charges. With a Discover card you can receive cash back, air miles, dining discounts, weekly specials and so much more! Let's take a look at all that a Discover credit card has to offer!
What makes a Discover card stand out is that you usually pay no annual fee and you can get up to a five percent cash back bonus on most of your spending. You'll rack up points on every rotating categories for this card, which is quite diverse and helpful rotating moneyback categories, earning five percent cash back at places such as gas stations, groceries and restaurants (upon activation, five percent cash back at other retailers). It's a great deal and one of the best cards out there if you're looking to earn some rewards.
But what about rewards programs? Can you really stack them up against the best cards out there? Well, for one, they aren't that great compared to those from Discover credit cards. Their gas rewards come only once per year while other cards give you points for every dollar you charge and you can earn up to a maximum of two reward points per dollar charged. If you need a cash bonus more often than that, though, the Discover cards may be your best option.
If cash isn't your thing, though, you can take advantage of their Diner's Club and Dining Rewards programs. These offer cash rebates, free drinks when you dine at a certain restaurant, or even free food, depending on the membership level. They usually also have a certain percentage that needs to be spent at their participating restaurants every month in order to get the reward. The best cards will also require at least a half-cent fee paid at the start of each billing cycle, in addition to a flat rate fee for all purchases. Either way, these cards earn the most for every dollar spent, which can make them great cash cow types.
Now, let's talk about those cons. To begin with, most people are not going to be able to get enough of this type of reward to justify paying the extra cash. Also, the cash backs don't usually cover the costs of services rendered at the restaurant so you may not get anything back for spending a lot at a chain restaurant. Lastly, they are subject to the same annual fee that Discover cards are subject to. So if you really want to get a significant cash value, these may not be your best choice.
The best Discover credit cards will have higher annual fees and provide more incentives than their less costly counterparts. If you can get an all-inclusive card that offers a significant cash bonus, these may be your best option. The key is to find the right card and the right provider. Take some time to compare different rewards credit cards and you will be able to choose the right one for you.
