If you shop at Costco often, you may find yourself paying more for your merchandise than you could ever imagine. With a Costco anywhere card, you can potentially gain even more value off of your membership and put some of that money back in your pocket. This card only allows you to claim your sales once a year, but that's not saying much. Over time, the amount of money you can save can add up.
Costco's anywhere card offers have one major limitation: You cannot claim the value of gas purchases made with the card for grocery items, lottery tickets, or airfare. However, if you plan on making such purchases frequently, this limitation is probably not a problem for you. In addition, the limit does not apply to cash purchases or balance transfers. Costco also has no blackout policy on sales or purchases during festive seasons (commonly referred to as Black Friday).
Costco's anywhere cards are also good for two other unique features. One is a no-fee shopping cart that allows you to shop at Costco even if you don't have cash available. This means that you can buy everything from groceries to clothing at low prices, which may give you added incentive to stick with Costco. You can also earn a cash back reward, which can really add up over time.
Another unique feature of the Costco anywhere card is the percentage rebate program. Merchants must give a percentage of the total cost of their products as a rebate when you make purchases at Costco. You can earn up to four percent in rebates on everything from groceries to fuel to movies to airfare. Some merchants also offer a five or six percent reduction on major purchases, like electronics. That's a pretty good deal. And the better brands and more name brands generally get better rebates.
The annual fee is a small price to pay, though. With a Costco card, not only can you earn rewards and cash back, but you pay only a one-time flat-rate fee instead of paying multiple fees for having multiple accounts at different banks. So, if you have other credit cards, or you pay your bill in full every month, you won't have to worry about extra fees. If you don't, this could be a great option for you.
The one drawback to Costco's deal is that there are no annual fee and no sign-up bonus. So if you need those features, or if you want to earn rewards or cash back, this won't help you much. Also, if you use the card very often, you will pay an annual fee anyway. But if you only use it once in a blue moon, then maybe this is a good deal for you.
A second advantage to Costco's card is the cash back cards. Here, after every purchase, you receive a certain percentage of that total price back as cash. It isn't a huge cashback percentage like with some other cashback cards, but it's still a good deal. Also, if you use the card often, the percentage can really add up. So over the course of a year, you can easily accumulate enough cash to pay off your debt, which will give you a significant amount of savings.
Over the long-term, Costco's card has lots of advantages. They have a low annual fee, no blackout fees, no foreign transaction fees, no expiration date, no credit check, and no membership fees. Also, if you use your card regularly, you'll pay very little in interest. Even if you use it only once or twice a year, the cost to the credit score isn't very high, and the cash back bonuses and signing bonus spending can really add up.
