In order to acquire a credit card or a debit card with a secured credit limit, one must have a 3D Secure Credit Card. What is 3D Secure Credit Cards? They are also known as “Triple Digit Secured Credit Cards.” A credit card issued with one of these Triple-Digit Secured Credit Cards contains a unique number (your “ISSUE ID”) that cannot be reproduced or copied without your express permission.
3-D Secure is an authentication protocol designed specifically to be another security layer for credit card payments. The name refers to the three domains that interact with the protocol: the issuer domain, the merchant/acqueror domain, and the social network/web site. When you enter these domain names during a transaction, only the first two are authorized for your transaction.
The social network and web site security are handled by the issuer or merchant processor. The card holder authenticates this authorization by verifying the information (expiry date, name etc.) in order to make sure that they are doing everything right. The “third party” (the credit card holder) authenticates the information sent by the issuer (which is just a random number generated for each account) by passing it back through the payment channels (Bank's secured gateway, internet merchant account, and so on.)
Once this is done, the cardholder submits the third party (the merchant) a request to pass the authorization back down the chain of authorization for processing credit card payments. The requesting merchant then checks the information supplied by the cardholder against the databases maintained by the acquiring bank. If all the required information is verified and deemed match, a positive response is returned. If not, a negative response or error message is returned with an explanation from the acquiring bank that the transaction cannot go through.
These errors occur due to a weakness of the authentication process. In order to make online credit card transactions fail, it is recommended that you perform additional security measures before entering any sensitive data. For instance, you can perform identity verification using a unique PIN or you can set up a deposit protected account with a bank that will accept VISA or MasterCard deposits instead of cash deposits. If you already have an existing account with a bank, you may use the auto-renewal feature to help avoid additional charges.
There are some banks that allow Credit Card Verification Software to be used directly by the credit cardholder. It is however advisable that you get a PCV software package since these are often sold as a stand-alone product. The PCV software will require an installation process and a few minutes of training. Then, you must activate the feature so it can protect your account. This must also be performed periodically, according to your bank's policies. Once activated, the auto-renewal feature of the software will help the bank to prevent possible authorization of unauthorized purchases.
This type of authentication is not only helpful in detecting unauthorized purchases but in preventing the access of malicious actors as well. Since criminals can hack into a system, they can also hack into your PCV software. You will then be alerted if someone tries to access your account. In case someone succeeds in bypassing the authentication, he will be caught in the act and his details will be sent to the acquiring bank. Thus, by using this PCV software, you can reduce the risk of fraudulent purchases and unauthorized access to your personal and financial information.
Online credit cardholder authentication is a convenient way for you to ensure that your cardholder data is encrypted and is safe from hackers. However, you should be careful about the security of your PCV software and never share your passwords or other important details with anyone you do not trust. Always remember that security is very important and can never be compromised.
