Your next step is to have an interview. During the interview, you will be asked questions regarding your knowledge of the United States Government, your work experiences and education. If you successfully completed the security vetting, you will then be assigned a Summer Associate Program or SAP. During the summer, you will work one to three days with a certified counselor. This counselor will review your work history and security clearance. The counselor will assist you in developing a work plan and a work schedule for your upcoming months.

Your next step is to participate in the NSAE Annual Security Inspection. This inspection will measure your progress and help USCIS determines how well you meet their work requirements. In some cases, the NSAE will require you to reapply for a job. However, in most cases, you will be automatically placed in your current position.

Once you have been assigned a number of positions, you will be responsible for reporting to the principal office. You may be asked to work full shifts or part time. It's important that you know which positions you're assigned so that you know how to be effective while fulfilling all of your responsibilities.
